John, glad you are here.
Doctors appointments, esp re mental health, up soon? I need ongoing care in some ways (now my psych is an every 3 mo med check, but at first it was untangling alcohol and mental health issues and every 2 wks) and am very grateful I sought and found a team of drs for everything from GP to back surgery!!
Class of Oct 2019 would be a good place to connect with folks getting sober now.

I'm already in the October 2019 class too, I found my old May 2018 class very helpful. I should pop by there and say hello.

I did the same thing after 6 years. I took a little vacation over 4th of July holiday and picked up. Thought I could give moderation a try but after a couple of months I was back where I left off. I have a week today. Welcome back.

Day 3. These first few days are the hardest. I'm being very moody today, at times verging on rage. This is partly due to my mental illness and partly due to having drank huge amounts of alcohol over the past few weeks. This heavy drinking has messed me up considerably and I count myself lucky to be alive.
I think what you’re experiencing is common during the first few days. It was for me anyway. You mentioned having a dr to address your specific concerns though...that’s great. It’s still very early so give yourself permission to feel what you’re feeling. Things do get better the longer we don’t drink.

Welcome back. Glad you made it out alive. Thank you for sharing. As someone else posted, I don't like reading these stories but at the same time they help to keep me sober. After my last drunk that nearly ended me, only last Friday my head tried telling me it would be different if I drank this time. Insanity.
At least now you have your proof that you are alcoholic and cannot drink safely or moderately. A harsh way to learn but a lesson nevertheless.
It took me about 10 days to get over my last binge. It is just something we have to go through to get to the other side.!
Stay close.

That's great to hear.
The thoughts will come but remember they are just thoughts. It's what we do with them that matters. When I get them now I tell them to eff off and take it up with my HP!! I al an alcoholic and to drink is to die. Period.
Stay close John.
