Nine Days...
Nine Days...
Hi all,
Well, I'm still sober and on my tenth day! I'm very thankful for that and for each and everyone of you here sharing your strength and incouragement.
I almost overcame my anxiety Tuesday and went to an AA meeting. I was so close. I'm not beating myself up about it, though, and will try again next Tuesday. (There's only 2 meetings in my nieghborhood that I can walk to- my anxiety disorder prevents me from riding the bus and I don't drive.)
I check in here regularly, and I get much hope and a sense of possibilty from reading the posts. This place has really been a lifeline for me.
I'm feeling pretty good, now that the withdrawals are over, and my mind is slowly clearing. I just wanted to give an update and wish everyone here a happy, and sober, holiday.
Thanks,
Thorn

CONGRADULATIONS THORN.
I THINK IF YOU GET TO A MEETING,THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE
THAT WOULD BE GLAD TO PICK YOU UP AND TAKE YOU TO MTGS.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING AT ANY MEETING IS THE NEWCOMER!
IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME TO ASK FOR HELP AT FIRST,
SO GLAD I DID,A.A. IS A LIFESAVER FOR ME!!!
GLAD YOUR HERE

Way to go Thorn! Things only get better from here (even the anxiety which I never would have believed until it happened for me.) Screw up the courage and walk through the door to your first A.A. meeting. You will be welcomed with open arms and there will be a heap of people who know exactly what you are going through. In the meantime, keep posting and let us all know how you are doing.
Happy Thanksgiving and Jah Bless

Thank you all for your thoughts an encouragement, it means a lot to me.
My first non-drunk, non-hungover Thanksgiving in more yeas than I can remember.
I'm really motivated to make my first meeting. If things get bad I'm going to call the AA central office number, and perhaps ask for a ride to one.
Woke up before dawn today and realized no matter what happens I don't have to have that first drink
Day twelve is off to a good start.
Thanks again I'm grateful for each and every one of you,
Thorn
