Morning all & happy sober Saturday to you!

Very early days (well weeks) for me but no FOMO so far! I’m starting to realise how much pleasure the simple things bring me that I couldn’t/wouldn’t do when I was drinking. Like walking on the beach, reading, socialising, watching a film & so on ....

Morning all,

Well done Sao. ⛳

Tetrax sit with those pesky cravings. Your doing so well. They come they pass. Tomorrow will be better as long as you don't drink today.

Vman hope your healing.

Bim have you always had an interest in deep sea diving or is it something you started reading since the terrible tragedy?
Somehow didn't imagine you as a diver

Alfie and I are planning on going to another dog show today, hoping to improve on his previous 5th place placing fastest recall. He is currently resting under the duvet and not showing any actual signs of enthusiasm.

Thanks for the Crazy Golf comments. No prizes for 4th but I know the winners and runners-up got trophies.

Tetrax, if it is the evenings when you are craving I would suggest going for a walk. It does seem to help (something to do with endorphins I think)

I have to go in to work this morning which is a pain. I won't stay any later than 11am. It is a beautiful morning here.

Kaily and Alfie, have fun at the dog show.

Tetrax, pleased you got through the evening. I hope today is better.

Woke up with a stinking headache this morning, it’s slowly going but I still don’t get how I used to inflict these on me constantly when I was drinking. Madness or what!

Looking forward to a sober weekend.

Good morning from my side of the world.

Tetrax, between five and six months was when I had my last actual battle with the AV. I made it through, I called someone, she gave me a distraction and I made it through. The Steps may be a good idea, I don't know - but you can absolutely stay away from the drink. The best is yet to come.

Kaily, yes, I scuba dive. I grew up on the coast of Florida, it's kind of in my blood. Now I live where the water is cold so I don't go as often. It's beautiful underwater where I live but it is a major ordeal to get all the gear to the water that I need here for cold water diving. I much prefer warm water diving, so the last few years I've not been diving much.

This boat that burned is a lot like the ones we dive from here...

Morning all. I'm having my morning caffeine kick in the ass before I go workout and then get ready for the zoo. The weather is pretty gloomy today so I'm not expecting a super busy day.

Hope you have a good time at the dog show, Kaily!

Cool stuff about the diving, Bim. Not the tragedy of course, but your own experiences.

Morning everyone, looks like it will be a nice day here so I think I will spend a good deal of it outside. With winter right around the corner it may be one of the last times to catch some Vitamin D.

Cool stuff about the diving. I would love to try that some day, its just way to cold up here where I live, will have to do some travelling to get that off the bucket list.

A month sober today. I will be honest I still think about having a drink quite a bit. My daughter is studying to be a clinical psychologist so she always is filling me with info about my brain, she says it takes 6 weeks to break a habit and 4 weeks to form a new one. So with that in tow, I still have a couple of weeks to give the beast a real kick in the ass and another month to form some better routines.

Wishing everyone a great clean Saturday, tkr

It's pretty easy to get a vacation certification to dive - like in Mexico or in Florida or anywhere there is a lot of diving and dive shops. Takes a few hours and you're good for shallow dives. Careful though. It's addictive.

And yeah, winter is scratching at the door.

My huge construction project that finished in August has created a big water leak in my roof and I'm having trouble getting anyone to take responsibility. It never ends.

Reminds me of a period I went thru. Fearful that, because things were going so well and my sober muscles were not getting a work out, the next big craving would knock me over. Eventually a craving or two did wash over me, but it wasn't the big deal I expected. But remaining vigilant s still very important. Being cautious and continue doing what your doing is a good plan.

Morning.

Freshly filled bird feeders, a lap puppy and lake view.

Hint of Fall and the first bright yellow Persimmon leaves are fluttering down.

I just need some more coffee to arrive in my version of heaven. . .

Wow Bim, must be a fascinating and beautiful world under the sea. Now I have FOMO!

Alfie came 4th place at the show today. I am pleased but I can't lie I was in it to win it. He was in the lead for ages then some late arrivals beat his time. Winning time 3.67 seconds Alfies time 4.25 so pretty close.

Hey weekenders. I slept in a bit today and I'm just getting through my second cup of coffee. Some basic domestic chores today - but mostly focusing on recharging my batteries (my way of saying I'm planning on being a little bit of couch potato).

Hope you have a great day

Hi MITA

Battery charge is essential.
I’m doing a good deal of that myself this weekend.

Tetrax I had to battle a severe circumstantial craving myself yesterday.

Hard to go through but I feel stronger after. . .

just waiting for the dryer to finish with the towels...wish I had a clothesline.

There are allegedly 13 people viewing this thread. Anyone have anything going on?

The dive boat thread is talking about fire suppression sprinklers now. I just can't see how that's a good idea, but I'm no marine fire expert.

this is from giphy when I asked for "twiddling thumbs."

Oh, congrats to Alfie the dog for coming in 4th. Stronger, better, faster!! >woof<

I am looking at guided walking tours in Rome. There are SO. MANY. TO. CHOOSE. FROM. It's like I'm getting free insanity on the side.

A good problem to have, though!

Oh, man, if ever there was a city to do walking tours, seems like Rome would be one! How exciting.

Yes, Rome is great on foot (hell for driving)

Congratulations to Alfie, as a fellow fourth placer I can empathize, especially as we were leaders "in the clubhouse" for a time.

One of my favourite bass players - Bernard Edwards - was in fine form on this track. Sadly he was one of us who passed away over 20 years ago now.

alfie and sao, you have to learn to pace yourselves.

Dryer's done. Yay, I can go outside now.

Aack! It's raining. I do have rain gear...
