A gift of asparagus? Now that is a cool dr. Glad it was a good first visit Press - for me, that's always been a little nerve tingling before going in. Hope you plan to go back. Let us know about produce treats

Psychologist or psychiatrist?
I find the psychiatrist far less nerve racking to see for a first visit. They're just going to write a script anyway and it barely matters what you say, it seems. Particularly because the visits are usually only 20 minutes.
Psychologist is a whole different ball game.

asparagus? Well, that's a little odd. At least it wasn't zucchini. Everyone where I worked seemed to grow zucchini, probably because it was one of the few things we could grow in Montana's short growing seasons. Everyone was always bringing zucchini to the break room and leaving it, or maybe trying to get rid of it. I don't know where it all went. Maybe they were just trading zucchini with each other.

To clarify (this is a point that irks me and it took far too long for my husband to uderstand it) - some psychiatrists do (talk) therapy too. Mine, for one. I also see a therapist (non-MD) now, which is only talk; my psych and I have shorter sessions now where it's a short discussion of how things are and a med review. Meds only obtainable thru the MD (psychiatrist).
When getting into treatment/living situation, my step son kept using the word "therapist" universally and it drove me batty!

They seem to be few and far between. I couldn't and still haven't found a psychiatrist that also does talk therapy. Even more aggravating, I tried a new psychiatrist after 10 years with the old one, largely because I was tired of driving across town for a 20 minute appt for nothing but cymbalta when anyone will give it to me. Anyway, I chose a practice that does both psychiatry and psychotherapy. They take my insurance for psychiatry, but not psychotherapy. It really irritates me that it's near impossible to find a real therapist who takes insurance.
