I Had My Last Drink.....

One year ago today I had my last drink. I tried for 6 years to get sober, after being a pretty heavy drinker for 30 years. I tried moderation, stopping to please others, and quitting to appease the courts when I was convicted of 2 DUI's within two years. Nothing seemed to work.

Then I finally got to the point where I wanted to quit. I was sick of the morning hangovers, missing work, and basically destroying every relationship I valued. I didn't do anything specific, no meetings or sponsors, no big book, no rehab, and no medications.

I just said that's it...I'm done. I stayed close to SR and relied on my September 2018 class for support. I stayed away from people and places that were associated with booze. And most importantly, I started taking care of myself. I began to love myself again.

Thank you SR for being a major component to my recovery.

Cheers to sobriety!

Congratulations!!!

Meditation. Thank God I don't need to be able to meditate to stay sober. The practice is thrown around soooo much. And I'm not bagging it. It is just not available to me

Keep going. Year 2 was interesting for me. Year 3 is proving down right hard. Maybe I need to revisit year 1. Hmmmm. Maybe I need a Tardis...for the Dr Who fans....

LOL...I actually do meditation.

I didn't use any medications.

Whatever works, I'm so happy to be off the crazy train
