Interesting! I have learned a good bit from those of you not in America
I'm born and raised in Atlanta, with a few years in early childhood in a popular small Southern town, Chattanooga TN.
With the explosion of growth since I was a child - at 43, I recall when we had one area code, didn't have what are now legitimate suburbs and much else that no one who is not truly from here can recall!
Proud to be raised here and in privilege- and extremely grateful that I had the instinct to go well beyond it in travel (I lived in Italy 6 mo while in college and 3 mo in London, have done extensive travel then a summer in Brazil teaching English...) for college and had a different base than many with whom I grew up when I returned home as a young adult.

I'm from Tennessee.
As you would easily discern if you heard me talk.
I've lived in TN for more than 50 years.
I have previously lived in Illinois (born in East St. Louis, Illinois), St. Louis and Florida.
Culturally, I'm right where I should be.

I'm from sunny St Petersburg, Florida-where we recently dodged a bullet named Dorian. In the bad old days I would get plastered when a hurricane threatened--sobriety rocks and is way safer!
I absolutely love Tennessee. I used to spend a lot of time in Nashville and Huntsville.
