Keep coming back?
I get that. That wasnt my question. Maybe it would better if people were free, no?
Actually the biggest deterent against drinking for me is a lifetime of that.
Im trying to move on, having grown up without without a problem.
No, I DO NOT Want to keep coming back.

Shift, my experience and we’e all individuals. I went to meetings and worked the steps years ago, it didn’t stop me drinking. Yet, I witnessed people who did! We’re all different. I call it locus of control. So I eventually stopped drinking, after decades, with a different non-meeting based rationale and SR.
Sadly, after two and a half years content sobriety, I started drinking again. I only meant to have a couple, to take the edge of grief, when I say I, it was my AV. Well, it didn’t, and those old neuronal pathways in my brain fired right back up. Still, I’ve stopped again, and I’m now using the same method to stop that I did previously. This time, I’ve learned my lesson, I can’t drink ‘normally’.
And, this time, I won’t fall for the AVs lies. Two drinks is never enough, once the rain is rewired excessive alcohol intake, in my experience. Shift, stop drinking by whatever method attracts you, and forget about those that don’t.

Ivr been doing this
The Freedom Model for Addictions: Escape the Treatment and Recovery Trap
Steven Slate
And consulting with my physicians.
I dont want to keep coming back
And just in case: I have no affiliation with the author of that book or a program. Its simply the only thing that made sense to me personally

ok - keep coming back where?
you will never be CURED of this affliction. as others have attested, relapse is always possible. forgetting that leads many down the road to drink again.
if i recall you've only been sober a few days right? might be a bit early days to make such judgement?

Anvillhead, I'm 55
Ive only been drinking 2.5 years OF that 55, so I think youre just a nay sayer and putting everyone into YOUR category.
Im getting treatment now for my anxiety and depression and honestly if your program works no need to defend it.

Congrats on getting sober shifthappens. However you choose to tread the sober path I hope it works for you. AA and SR have both been an incredible help to me thus far on my sober journey both of which i'm very grateful for. I always keep an open mind for any other methods too. Have never heard of the freedom model before, are there any others on SR who have had success with it?
I can take anything anybody says and put it into whatever context I want. I find it to be more beneficial to try to find a context where it can be of value to me. If II can't find one, I just drop it because I would rather spend my time on solutions. Problems and challenges usually find me just fine on their own. They don't need my help.

Shift, I’ll say once again. If you read Secular Connections, Steven Slate, the author of the Freedom Model, posted there in a couple of threads, when the book came out last year.
Concentrate on what might help you, and not what you think won’t help now. Take action!

excuse me? when did i say NAY to anything? i asked you an honest question.
by the way i'm 60, so ha go me.
it's fine to have an opinion, but why did yours have to start by banging on a well known slogan to a well known program??
curious what YOUR recovery MODEL is, shift? maybe i missed that part. tell us all about your sobriety journey.
