Sober birthday
Today was my first sober birthday for about 10 years. Even since I was of legal drinking age I’ve always drank myself into oblivion on my birthday.. not today.
And do you know what? I had a great day - gym workout this morning followed by a lovely lunch and lengthy walk. Felt so good to be present in my surroundings all day. No cravings or anything at all today. No longer do I want to consume something that’s going to dull my senses.
Feeling so grateful and happy knowing I’m not going to wake up with a horrendous hangover tomorrow. Never did I ever think I would get to a point where I didn’t associate special occasions & celebrations with alcohol.

heck yea, I can relate. Just over a month ago I had my 48th birthday. It was my first sober birthday since my 13th. And yea while I did not do anything I was happy to not be drinking. I could not agree more with everything you wrote, could have wrote it myself. If I havent already. Hope you can keep it up.
Well done, and happy birthday!
I remember, early in my sobriety, I went to an AA meeting to celebrate. It was during the day and there were four other people there. But it is one of my best birthday's ever.
Best to you and many more sober birthdays to you.
