Here's one more pic before I go to bed. The Falls of Shin which are incredibly loud. Atlantic Salmon spawn here and apparently try to leap the Falls, perhaps there is less water sometimes because even a salmon couldn't leap those waters.

I think you should go back there during the salmon run. You'd be amazed at what those fish can do. I go and marvel at them every year. It's almost time!!

Thank you Saou and Mesa for the lovely photos. I shall have to find some of my own to post at some stage.

Anyway, a successful sober weekend completed with walks on the beach, good food with the family and some challenging work signed off to be proud of. Gratitude is forthcoming as today marks 31 weeks alcohol free for me...

Goodnight all. Forwards.

Thanks for the great posts and pics today.

Off to bed for some reading and an early night.

I look forwards to sleeping sober as much as I used to dread it drinking.
Anyone else feel that way also?

See y'all in the morning for coffee ☕️

I was buzzed by and F-18 once.

A few years back, I took the family to an air show because Colonel Chris Hatfield was flying an F-18 that year. The show was running late and we had to start heading back to the city just as Hatfield got out on to the runway. We were slowly walking back towards the parking lot hoping to see him take off and do some aerobatics. Sure enough, he got off the ground and flew about for a bit then took off towards the horizon and disappeared. We reached the parking lot and saw him coming back from a distance right towards us. He buzzed the parking lot, setting off many car alarms, and flew right over our heads nearly knocking the wind out of me! How exciting that was!

Morning Weekenders

Dragon I bet that was thrilling having the F-18 come over so close. Brilliant flying skills!

We’ve had two Chinook helicopters flying back and forth for a few days. I’m not sure if they’re on a practice (the Air Force practice flight path is along the river Trent, it seems) or helping with the damaged dam. Though we can’t see them carrying anything. Not managed to get a pic yet, by the time I hear them and get my phone they’ve gone!

Hope it’s a good sober Tuesday for us all.

Just found out that only a soft southerner would put sugar on his porridge, fortunately I didn't put anything on mine. Scotsmen and women put salt on theirs apparently. I expect up here in the Highlands they put iron filings on theirs.

Morning all,

Sounds like you are having a great time Sao. Love the pics. I agree with Bim on the Salmon jumping ~ they would put Eddie the Eagle to shame.

I'm intrigued, did you drive to Inverness?

STDragon I hope those sticky little beasties disappear soon. Although you don't want mosquito's either... Sounds like the ants are having a feast.

Nothing much going on in my little world. Thankful to be sober.

Kaily, great photo, you’ve gotta feel for the salmon, it’s an uphill struggle for them!

Saou, I’m curious...how’s the linguistics doing? Can you communicate and understand the Scots? No sarcasm honestly! Mr.M could never understand a Scottish neighbour we had, I’d have to translate later!

Andy, that’s a bummer! Soon be weekend.

Morning all,

The days are flying by and the weather is living up to its irish reputation.

We are currently parked up at a camping and caravan park on the Atlantic coast in Co. Kerry.
It's a nice spot but the wind and is very strong and rather difficult to set up at the beach.

I think I might have put a scratch on the side of the caravan. We got a little lost on Irish roads... It's hardly visible

A little photo of our set-up :

I need to go see the salmon someday. Knowing me, I’d make it a whole thing and cry when they did it because it’s a grand metaphor for life. Must be really cool to see though.

Glad people seem seem to be enjoying their holidays! You too sao, even tho you had to go for a not so fun reason.

Still getting up early to exercise and dare I say I kinda like it. I feel much less tired when I get to work than when I would throw myself out of bed, into some clothes, and onto the bus in a record 10 minutes.

I also wanted to mention that I found out this weekend the friend zone friend has a habit of harassing other people like he did to me (bc honestly if I really think about it, that’s what it was) and I feel disappointed in that he would do that but also vindicated. I don’t feel guilty anymore because it clearly wasn’t my fault. I think I can close the chapter on this now. Whew.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This road is called the Conor Pass it brought us into Dingle. It's a high mountain pass near the coast.

I'm loving the pics Vman, the scenery is stunning. That road looks a bit dicey, especially with a caravan at the back!

I am feeling very envious of both you and Sao. Scotland or Ireland would suit me just fine.

Two words. Seafood chowder. Leave it to me to get that out of this fantastic page of pictures and life events.

Vman, are you pulling that caravan with that little red car? Amazing! At one point I wanted to buy a smaller caravan than that but my car is underpowered and that car doesn't look much bigger than mine.

Beautiful spots, Vman and Sao.

Thanks for the salmon image too, Kaily. I've decided to go look at the salmon today...it's another couple weeks until the huge King (Chinook) Salmon are running, but there will be other smaller kinds. I'll go to the fish and chips place where I used to sit with too many beers and scotch, but today I'll toast you all with an iced tea. Turns out tea is very good for me.

Bim, iced tea sounds very refreshing.

Vinny the photo's are good, looks nice and peaceful where you are.

I’ve never tried seafood chowder....had to check it out on google. I can’t imagine fish in a soup. though I liked the look of fish pie with a mashed potato topping.

I think mashed potato is one of my favourite foods.

I love seafood chowder but must admit I'm not by the sea.

But the big lake my house is next to actually has commercial fishing and also fresh gulf shrimp driven up weekly, so it is possible, but will have to use freshwater fish. . . . hmmmmm. . . .

Beyond that, my guilty pleasures today have been extra pots of dark roast coffee ,and a large almond flour cookie bar made with lots of fancy European butter. Tres yummy ;0
