Getting Serious About Recovery
Hi Everyone,
I'm new here so thought I would just leave a post to introduce myself.
Now I am looking back, I can see that I have struggled with addiction since I was around 19. I have always used alcohol and drugs to manage my feelings because I have always hated myself and been ashamed of who I am.
I will pretty much use anything if it is available but my DOC have been alcohol, speed, cocaine and cannabis. I've toyed with prescription painkillers also.
I haven't drank for about 6 weeks and haven't used 'proper' drugs for around 4 weeks now. My main issue has always been cannabis. I started a thread in the marijuana forum also and am planning on quitting today and updating that thread daily.
I recently joined NA. This is the most honest I have ever been about my addictions. Thank you for reading x

I'm not just saying this to blurt out some AA lingo...but HONESTY is KEY.
Getting that all out is empowering....gives you the ability to look at your problem....and you have a plan to deal with your problem now....
What I loved most about the first time I was sober for a long period of time...
Was the FREEDOM sobriety brings me...I don't have ANYTHING to HIDE anymore...I don't have to be ashamed....I don't have to be frightened and I can take the problem head on....
When you do all those things...you are ready...you sound ready...so keep going
