15 months - work, strength, peace and power

I checked my sober counter today and realize that it's officially 15 months. It's remarkable how it both feels like just yesterday and yet forever ago that I finally put down the drink for good.

As I said here before, there's absolutely no aspect of my life that hasn't been improved, heightened, deepened and just simply made better by my sobriety. As I read about people here who are still struggling, as I did for many many years, makes me realize just how important sobriety is to me to my life. I never want to go back to that misery and self-inflicted pain. I can't ever let this go or give it up.

It takes work and commitment and sacrifice. But it pays dividends like few things in my life. In a sense it's almost like the weightlifting that I'm seriously committed to. Sobriety is something that you can actually see and feel the results of. From my bank account to my psyche, from the relationships in my life to just being able to remember the ending of a damn movie.

Empowered by my sobriety. My sobriety gives me great almost immeasurable peace. Life is not easy. There's so many things to deal with on a daily basis and there's never enough time for any of us.

But we can all quit drinking. It's a gift, it's almost a superpower.

I'm blessed but I've made my own blessings and I saved myself. Of course all of this with the help of this remarkable website. Stay strong everybody, a better life is yours for the taking.

Thanks for sharing this.

It's Friday afternoon here where I am at and my AV wants to start talking to me that lil SOB. More water and back to yard work.

Thanks again!
