Risky Drinking

HBO Documentary was on Sky Atlantic last night. I had recorded it and just watched it. I thought it was good but really difficult to watch at times.

4 people, all different age groups battling addiction to alcohol and long-term what this does to the brain, etc.

Anyone else see it?

I have not seen it. Honestly I dont think I would want to. Whats done is done. What happens, happens and if I dont know about it now I dont want to know about it. I have seen similar though, I'm sure its good.

I remember one young lady that started out the night with best intentions laughing and chatting.

Next thing she is blacked out crying and then has blacked out intercourse with a random stranger.

Insanity.

Thanks.

I watched it and could relate to each person, the party girl who ends up crying. The wine drinking and end up feeling depressed. The island beach bar rum drinker always in chaos with his relationship. The man who feels awful and needs help physically moving. The thing that upset me is the idea of moderation seemed like to be a real thing to them. None of them I believe really got that 100% abstinence is the only option. Something else that made me mad was during the whole program my husband kept saying... you.... you....you. I turned to him and said what about YOU? I try to let my husband figure out for himself his own drinking because my own is enough for me to handle. But I’m mad he’s acting like he’s been Mr.Perfect. No way, he’s just as bad as me.

Thank you for sharing this link, it was a good reminder of why I never want to drink again. I will never return to the insanity.

I think it's a difficult watch at times but watching it sober, I've definitely been the party person that starts off all fun and laughs then disintegrates into drama and tears. It's the realisation I had going- that was me!

I think though the explanation about what it does to the brain was interesting though too. But watching it sober was something that made me think- abstinence for me is the only way.

Thank you for posting the link, I have just watched it and can relate to much of it. Especially the lady wine drinker - that's how it started for me, having a glass when cooking then drinking when eating and before I knew it a bottle was done. The party girl made me sad too - it reminded me of when I have done the 'ugly crying', more than I care to count. A very enlightening watch
