Off to the airport
My girls get back from holiday today and I'm just about to leave to go and pick them up.
It's a beautiful day again here and I'm sober.
I am a bit apprehensive of the reaction I'm going to get from my youngest daughter. She's not really messaged anything all the time they have been away but my eldest has messaged loads (all through our family chat whattspp)
But I'm showered, fresh and sober and will try to rebuild the trust again.

Good for you for being sober and prepared to deal with your responsibilities as a parent. I've been through the process of regaining trust with a child - as much as we wish it could happen overnight, it's really a matter of time, like water over rocks, but it can be done. The calmness my son now has with me when we are alone is worth all the work it took to get here x 100.

They were fine with me. I had picked up a couple of bits that were on sale for them while they were away, so took them for them ( this was the "old" me that would do things like that before the drink took over)
I just picked the bits up when I was getting bits for me last week. I didn't do it intentionally or anything, just saw a couple of bits on sale and thought of them.
I also took a couple of cans of pop over for them for the drive home. They really appreciated it tbh. Just things I did without thinking. Just things that their old mum did without thinking.
We chatted about the holiday etc on the way back.
I cried after they went as I'm ashamed of myself for how much I've hurt them. I'm grabbing this chance and I'm not letting go.
Alcohol just destroys lives and I'm not going back there.
