I feel your pain Soberclover. I had to make the same decision on my dear Libby girl several years ago. At 12 years old she had lumps in her mammaries, which after the first surgery the vet biopsied to find out what form of cancer she had. Test results were that she had the fast growing kind. Nine months later she erupted with more masses that broke open. I knew she was suffering as she could barely walk and hardly left her bed. I took her in before she lost control of her legs and bowels. She was a dignified, serious loyal working dog (border collie). Losing our beloved members of our animal family is <to me> just as heart wrenching as losing our people. Wishing you love and support during this difficult time.
Bandit did cross over the Rainbow Bridge this morning. He did have a stroke and the deck was stacked against him for recovering because of his other health issues and his age. I know in my heart he is in a better place and he isn't in pain. I was with him through the whole process and I did hold him the entire time. My heart is breaking as he took part of it with him. Thank you everyone for your support and kind words - it does help and it means a lot to me.

I am so very sorry soberclover! This is such a difficult thing to go through. Losing a pet is losing a beloved family member. It is so hard. They are so full of unconditional love. I know SR is here for you whenever you need support.
