Hi Laura

This forum is a good place to start
Read round a little - see what other people are doing to stay sober

Feel free to check out our Class Of July support thread too - its for everyone quitting this month. All you need to do to join is post in it:

Welcome. I have found this group a very big part of my journey. I have also had a few similar binges (more than a few) in my life and have ruined everything with the tomorrows seeming so bleak. I have had some down days sober, but nothing like the depth of despair that alcohol brings to me. It is refreshing not to worry about it any more.

Don't worry about any big leaps required. Just not taking the action to drink and small continued steps forward in life yields amazing results. Hang in there.

This has helped me way more than any other resource. Even if eventually I use something else to get sober, this was by far the most influential.

I just got here myself yesterday, after a 3 day binge, drinking a liter of Absolut a day and staying in bed 20 hours a day. I'd take a shot every hour or so, 24 hours a day. I was sober for 8 years so I know how to quit, I just didn't know how to stay sober. If we stick together we can get through this.

Hi Laura and welcome
Stay around, read loads, I did and still do. Great site, I'm so glad I found it.
I'm now 2 months sober after my last week long binge that found me passed out on a path.
Join the July class and post in the 24 hour thread to commit to not drinking for that day. You can do this. It's totally worth it
