Doing my research

So since I've had my diagnosis, the lightbulb has been switched on. I've been researching 'cyclothymia disorder' all weekend. It has a strong link to addiction. In my case ive always binged on alcohol/ drugs. Which I always used to stop the waves of hopelessness I've felt over the years. It's a hand slapping forehead moment.
Now I'm not making excuses, but I'm starting to understand that it's illness. With the right medication to balance me out, and the talking groups etc I may finally beat this shite. I'm feeling pretty good right now, knowing I'm not actually nuts.
Early days, but with all the help I'm putting in place I might finally win this battle.
I'm feeling positive, hopeful, happy, determined. I know it may take a while before I level out but its a step closer. I have to see my own GP to discuss new meds this week.
Much love to everyone struggling today 🙏💖

Nice discovery! One could argue that we all have some degree of cyclothymia (mood disorder).

No argument here my friend, but for some that mood disorder is a hell of a battle 😊

And be patient. Mania is a dangerous place for us...but it feels so good. I try to remember to find the middle ground in everything....and that is a totally unnatural way for me. I lived my earlier years with the mentality that if it was worth doing, it was worth over-doing. There were times when that could be a super power....but mostly it knocked me down.

Sleep. Rest. Contentment. Balance. Time. If meds work that is fantastic. I have never found one that has. Lifestyle has been my number 1 medicine.

I meant to mention how great and spot on this thread is.... I was logged out when I read it.

This is THE key to staying sober for me.
