I知 Back

Hello all,

I was messaging on this board a while ago while I was really struggling. I managed to fall into the depths of alcoholism over a four-year period. It was not until my later 30s that I developed a problem. I had been drinking socially up until then. I obtained three DUIs in a matter of 3 and a half years. I also managed to break 2 bones during drinking related falls. I have now been sober since 11/29/2018. I知 struggling a lot with anxiety, depression, and loneliness. I look forward to talking to members on this board!

Welcome back, I'm glad you made it. Some don't.
Sounds like you went through the wringer while drinking, so congratulations on your sober time.
Anxiety, depression and loneliness are pretty common themes in these parts. So you're certainly not alone on those points.
Stick around and keep posting. You'll find people who understand, like me, here who understand.
Have you seen a doctor? Or psychiatrist? There may be other mental health issued involved. I see a psychiatrist and therapist. It does me wonders. My anxiety and depression have been lifted through talk and medication.

Best to you and please stick around.

Hi Lily, and welcome back!

Have you considered talking to your dr about the depression. It could be that medication would help you with that. I have found that my anxiety is more manageable in sobriety. There are simple breathing techniques that can help with anxiety, too. Exercise can also be helpful.

I'm glad you have posted and I know you will find lots of support here.

Welcome back! I would also suggest talking to your doctor about depression. I have been on anti-depressants for a long time and they help me a lot. I hope you can find some relief.
