I am back, need help

Hi all,
I was doing really well and then the wheels came off.
Too many excuses and too much drama and I need to get back on track.
Please send me good thoughts if you can.
Much appreciated.

Thinking of you. You can do this. If I can, anyone can, especially YOU. Hang in there. It gets better.

It sure seemed like the wheels were on.
It is easy for me to fall back into old ways.
It is easy for me to think I can moderate and I do for a while until I don't.
My coping mechanisms, self esteem and self trust need work.

took me a while to recognize that I'd been missing some bolts every time I put the 'wheels on'....

you'll get it.

Take an honest inventory of what worked, what didn't, what gaps you had in your whole sober You....

beyond the not drinking - we've gotta build a new SoberSelfStructure.

Welcome back. I'm glad you're here.

What's the plan for today?

Call the AA phone number on a meeting list? Call someone from someone other kind of recovery program? There are many paths and gathering information and healthy contacts can play a big role in recovery. I have many contacts I've never met in person (I'm not alcoholic and am in 12 step recovery). Some of these contacts simply are there to refer back to or check in with from time to time. People like to help others and they get something from us reaching out, just as we get something from them. No strings attached.

yes, it was easy for me to think i could moderate, though my own experience showed me it was not true. yet i wanted to believe next time would be different.
where i needed “work” was in knowing and accepting at the core of my being that i could not moderate, that my drinking would never be different.
that was and is the basis of my sobriety.

It can happen to any of us. The voice says "hey look how well you are doing" and you relapse.

Well you did. But you are back here where you need to be.

Welcome
