Hi Inspired to find this forum, Inspired by recovery Hi you guys. I just wanted to start out by saying hello. I am new here and am learning how all this works. I am very inspired seeing all these posts and encouragement. That is what the program is all about. I have over 3 years clean. i stopped working on myself for about a year when my sponsor relapsed and now I have started working with one of my clsoe friends. I am in such an ugly place inside. That voice just wont stop in my head. I am so grateful that the obsession to use was lifted a long time ago now I am left with the voice of what a piece of **** I am. I just want to say Hi and that I am so grateful the obsession to use has been lifted. |
Hi back, and glad to have you here. And congratulations on three years clean, that's awesome. I'm very glad the obsession has been lifted, too. It has for me also. Don't let that voice win and get you down. I get it too once in awhile. I win by not drinking. You're a wonderful person who is clean and sober, that's what matters. Tell that voice to go to hell. Best to you and please stick around. I'm sure there's something we can all learn from you. |
Thank you so much. |
You're welcome Alisha. We can always use some sobriety around these parts. You can get help and give help. You're finding your way around just find. Feel free to post on any thread you wish. Maybe share some of your wisdom. Looking forward to see more from you. |
Welcome to the family. :) Three years clean is wonderful. You'll find lots of support and wisdom here. |
hi Alisha, glad to hear the stepstuff took you to a place of the promised lifting of obsession. for the voice that tells you about yourself in those crap terms, have you considered some professional help? |
Hi Alisha Welcome! Three years is so awesome heck I'm at 3 days so you are a huge inspiration for me: :You_Rock_:You_Rock_ |
Contact with other alcoholics is inspirational, and unlike listening to a motivational speaker with the answers, you get to experience people actually reaping the benefits of what that speaker guy was talking about. It becomes more of a hands on learning experience. Why didn't you get another sponsor after yours relapsed? There are other members of the group still working recovery. These are the ones you need to hang with. |

Welcome, Alisha. Congratulations on 3 years of recovery and good for you for tackling that nasty voice. |
Welcome and congrats! As many have said we can surely learn from you. One suggestion for negative self talk is daily positive affirmations! |
