Lucky I can laugh at myself :-D

Determined to give AA a proper go so decided to buy some of their books but money is tight so found some on eBay and ordered them this morning.

Just been on to the UK AA website and found they’re actually cheaper on there

Thank you both :-)

I’ve been reading them online but I’m an old fashioned soul who likes a book (ok, I’m a bit of a dinosaur).

Dee, very true. For three books I probably paid an extra amount equivalent to the cost of a mid-range bottle of wine so by not drinking yesterday I’ve already covered that

It annoys me when after I buy something, it shows up cheaper someplace else, and sometimes drastically cheaper. I've gotten pretty good at comparison shopping, but sometimes I throw myself a curve.

Meetings are free! and a more in depth way to learn as you see the program at work. You can also buy AA approved literature at most big clubhouses - around here, those are generally buildings entirely devoted to AA activities.

I am going to be going to the meetings, just want something at home. We don’t have that sort of big set up in the U.K. and definitely not in my neck of the woods.

Dont know if they’ve shown Rob Lowe’s Wild Bill over there but that’s near where I live.

That was a good series. Did you see any of the filming?

I didn’t as I now live about 30 minutes away but friends who still live in the town did.

Found it very strange watching it at first as Boston doesn’t have those sort of council apartment blocks and that was definitely not Boston police station (which is about quarter of the size and much more tatty).

That was definitely St Botolph’s Church though, commonly known as The Stump. Legend has it that if you manage to run round the outside of the church three times while the clock strikes midnight the ghost of the Grey Lady will appear. She was a lady who was widowed just after the birth of her first child. In her grief she jumped from the top of The Stump with the baby in her arms into the river below.

The town’s theatre is within an old monastery dating back centuries and that is meant to be haunted by a monk (nicknamed Mickey).
