So glad I found this site!

I haven’t had a drink in three days but I know I need to stop. I found this group after googling “itchy when stopping drinking” and voila, here I am. Terribly itchy, especially at night. Going to try Benedryl tonight. I started drinking heavily probably 2-3 years ago after being a light drinker. I know now that I will never be a light or moderate drinker again. I know this won’t be easy, but I can’t live like this any longer.
Thanks for being here!

Welcome, quit4good; I'm very glad you found us, and SR is a vital component of my sober journey; I hope it will be one of yours as well. I could never moderate my drinking-I have no 'off' switch once I have the first drink, and there is no predicting what will happen except that it will be horrifying. I have accepted (finally!) that if I take one more drink I will die; it will inevitably lead to my end. With a strong plan for sobriety and the help of the wonderful people here, I have been sober for 3 and a half years. I will never go back. Wishing you all the best on your sober journey, and I hope you stick around and post often.
