New Found Positivity

It seems I'm feeling positive today. Nothing much exciting happened. I got a lot done at work, but I still have all of my looming bills and debt to take care of. I just feel like I can handle it today for some reason.

I'm 18 days sober.
Perhaps alcohol is that hard on my brain chemistry. Maybe it truly took 2-3 weeks to feel a bit less depressed and negative. I don't know. But I hope it continues with sobriety.

I felt lighter and less sad and depressed week by week in early sobriety.
Keep going

Early sobriety can be a rough road to travel. Stay sober and it will get better, little by little.

TWTOM,

Glad you are feeling better and having a breakthrough in mood today!!!

I looked into some literature on PAWS that helped me explain a lot of my own symptoms with mood, fatigue, & sleep disturbances...

I think you will start to feel better soon. Remember to try to do some exercise each day and try to do something fun, too.

Really glad to hear this!! It indeed took a lot longer than a couple wks for me to begin to see changes in all areas. The dark stuff you have shared with us is real and tough and can change and heal- if we stay sober.

I'd also suggest an article that I believe Dee posted a long time ago (well, maybe 3 yr since I first saw it!) that really digs into PAWS. I experienced the syndrome at length and certainly not everyone does but you might relate -
https://digital-dharma.net/post-acut...r-immediately/

There is also a book I'd suggest to all just getting sober - it's called Living Sober and it's about the first year. An easy read (not an AA pub but published by a well known rehab here called Hazelden in MN) and avail on Amazon for cheap.

Take care and keep going TWTOM!
