Bimbott, that’s not so good, but you’ve stopped now and hopefully for good. That can’t have been easy so well done.

Your reply will really help the likes of me who are on our first long-term quit. We all need to steer clear of alcohol regrettably from now on, not even just the one.

Thanks again and good luck

Do you see this guy as "soulless and lifeless" also? Makes me curious as to why you'd willingly surround yourself in such an enviroment.

I asked myself that question.
Think the things he has done is taking its toll as he’s on antidepressants.
I don’t see him as lifeless and soulless but I did notice the booze taking away from him. I don’t stay long enough to see anything more.
I can just have a sit and a bond the way I would have wanted when I was drinking. Suppose I think that’s what working class men do.

I 'kinda' feel ya,but for me... Once I quit drinking it became either playing pool with my buddie's,company x-mas party, listening to a band or something directly related to my income(meeting with investors). Beyond that I have zero desire to be in that depressing(to me) enviroment any longer. I'd rather watch paint dry than hang out with drinkers in a dark bar anymore.

It wouldn't be for me. In the first years I'd be worried about relapse and drinking thoughts, ways to fit in and fear of missing out.

Today it would bore me to tears.

I know you recently had a breakup - what does the rest of your social life like like right now?

I don’t really have one.
My focus has been all on my family, work and looking after my Ill mum.

yeah I figured.

My point I guess is there are probably other options for social interaction and downtime than hanging with this guy in the bar...if it becomes problematic for your recovery.

I hear you,
I will get some hobbies when things have levelled out a little.
