Struggling

been sober before but went back for 10 months. I’ve had enough. I’m done with it. I’m on day 2. Been to 3 meetings, have one tomorrow, living just for today bc I can’t fathom going without alcohol tomorrow. Have to stay in it for just today. Just today.

Welcome to SR Polly

Coming here made all the difference for me - it was such a relief to find people who understood and who had suggestions to help me with my problem.

I'm glad you found us

Hi Polly and welcome.

Well done on day 2, you have done it before and you can do it again - this time for good.

Be strong

Thank uou

Thank you all. I just happened to find this page lastnight while looking for a particular quote I head in a meeting. I thought it may be a scam initially. They didn’t seem to want anything but my email so I gave it a try. I’m willing to do anything right now. I’ve finaly gotten the courage to ask someone to be my sponser very early this morning and she has already responded and given me a meeting time. I’m nervous bc I’m not really a people person, but I’ve seen her in the program long enough to know that she will kick my axx if needed.
so anyway, here’s to day 3. I pray to....something (not sure on that one yet) to keep me sober for today, for day 3 to be successful.

One of the really good things for me about continuous, sustained healing (sobriety) from alcohol has been getting my confidence back. Give it some time and you may find you like people a bit more. Maybe quite a bit more.

This site is great. I posted in my Class of March when I first started and kept reading all around this site. Here is the Class of May 2019 thread in case you want to post in there as well, it's all people quitting this month and you may find it helpful and enlightening.

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...-part-one.html (Class of May 2019 Part One)

Welcome.

awesome demonstration of willingness to get into action and follow direction

willingness = the key
action = the solution

It's great to have you with us, Polly. It really helps to know we're not alone.
Congratulations on your Day 3 - the early ones are rough, but things should improve soon.

Tired but positive

Work was horrible and my relief didn’t get there in time for me to make my meeting. I got there the last 10 minutes but even saying a prayer with all of them was helpful. I met with my sponser lastnight and she’s going to have me doing this right. She gave me homework! Wha? So I’m on my way home to break out the books.

Welcome POlly, I was going to ask if you have a support system around you, but it sounds like your are putting forth the effort to make that happen. This site changed my life and I hope it can change yours too.

You're better than alcohol, PollyV. It's just a substance.
It's the first drink that starts you on the path to oblivion.

You got this. I believe in you.

Welcome. It was hard for me to fathom going a day without alcohol as well. The thought of going home after work and just being sober sounded dull and boring, and I had no desire to do so. Just something that gets better after time.
