Liver tumor

Hello everyone.

long time lurker, so want to say hello and tell the story so far.

I've been a heavy drinker for 17 years and am 9 weeks sober. Drank daily, mostly beer and wine, sometimes 10 beers, other times 2 bottles of wine a day, sometimes both. I finally had the motivation to quit and still going strong.

I'm self employed and busy with family so I always found alcohol a way to wind down, but i always drank way too much.

After about 6 weeks of sobriety I started getting abdominal pains in my right side, fatigue and also some mental confusion. I went to the DR and had blood, urine and an ultra sound scan. The scan picked up a tumor on my liver. The other results were fine.

I've just had a CT scan and am awaiting the results.

I obviously wish I'd quit sooner, but I also feel that whatever the outcome, I did it to myself.

Thanks for reading.

Hi and Welcome,

Congratulations on 6 weeks of sobriety.

I'm sorry to hear about your liver tumor, but it's good that you are getting medical help and advice. Try to not blame yourself. You did the best you could, and now you are taking care of yourself and getting the medical help that you need. I hope the results that you get from the CT scan give you hope.

Good that you have the sobriety to deal with any health issue. If you had still been actively drinking, you may have ignored the pain and not taken action. Hope all goes well.

Until we can travel back in time, regrets aren't worth anything. What IS important that we change our behavior in the present if there is something in the past that isn't authentic to us and/or our well being.

Which you have.

Please keep us posted as to the results.

Fingers crossed it is benign A15. Congratulations on 9 weeks of sobriety, at least not drinking should be getting a bit easier by now.
