MyJourney - it's so good to have you with us. I'd been drinking for many years when I found SR. Right away, I felt less anxious about making this huge change in my life. We're here to encourage & support you - you're never alone.
Welcome!

Healing tears - always helpful. I felt the same way when I first joined. I've never been let down in all these years.

I love that, "healing tears". Thank you for such a warm wonderful welcome. Today is not a good day, but it's definitely looking better.

ideas on what drink to replace cocktail hour

This is my 4th day sober. One of my triggers is around 4 p.m when I start cooking dinner,...always had a martini or glass of wine WHILE cooking. What suggestions ..to replace that drink. So far I've had Club Soda in a wine Goblet. I also added Tabasco to it.....am thinking of munching on pop corn,...but my main concern is what to replace that pre dinner drink. Thanks

Hi MJ14... and welcome!

when I found this place I was a newcomer too.

With the help of this community and other work in my life, I’ve been living in sobriety for over 5 years.

its a life-changing decision to find a place like this and to look for help and support and put addiction in the past.

glad you’re here

Hi and welcome to you too Suzy

In the long run I think you're better off not drinking things, or out of things, that remind you of drinking.

I started with sugary pop drinks which didn't really do me a lot of good although they did give some comfort.

I prefer a simple soda water (or sparkling water as some call it) now - you can get all kinds of flavours and infusions these days too, if you want.

Iced tea is pretty good too

D
