I HAVE to be different this tim e

Please God, (group of drunks) or whatever, please let me do it differently this time. I really need this. Want this. I want to have humility I want to follow direction. I want to have commitments and socialize with people. I want to do the step sincerely I want to call my sponsor I want to help others. Whatever. I mean it's not that I want to do any of that stuff but all I hear day after day is that if I want to be sober I have to do that stuff.

Please just tell me what to do. I'm 13 days inn and I cannot, cannot drink again. Ever. It always starts with lying I'm telling myself it's okay to lie. **** that. I'll get on my knees whatever.

You already know what to do Press. Take some deep breaths,. Don't panic.

Call your sponsor, call any other AA numbers you have. Hit any available meetings. Post here as much as you need.

Think about your ACTION plan - what other things have you thought about to do when cravings hit?

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html

HALT? Are you Hungry Angry Lonely or Tired? what can do about that?
Urge surfing?
P laying the tape through to the end?

All those things you can do right now

do NOT buy alcohol. Do NOT put yourself in a situation or opportunity to drink alcohol.

Do NOT raise a glass of alcohol to your mouth.

You'll be OK

You want to do a lot of things. And you can. You simply have to be willing. Willing to go to any length necessary. I had to get on my knees, I had to throw myself into sobriety more than I wanted to drink.
Ten years later, it still works.
But at the end of my drinking, and even now, I have to be willing. Willing to do whatever it takes to stay sober.

You can do it. Are you willing?

You named a lot of the exact things to do!!!

Support from something beyond us, whatever that source is, is critical - but we have to do the stuff in order to stay sober. Not take that first drink- but back it up from there to calling your sponsor, locking yourself at home so you don't get alcohol, coming here, whatever it takes!

13 days Press- keep going. It's hard and it takes time to make all these new habits but you can do it. We get it. Keep going.

gtting sober was the hardest thing ive ever done-harder than fighting cancer. the mental obsession was a bugger but i did what i was told -went to meetings, read the bb, prayed like crazy, worked the steps, didnt drink even when my ass was falling off, repeat.
staying sober has been easy.
there were days in early recovery that one day at a time was too long so i took it down to one hour at a time.
some hours were too long so i took it down to one minute at a time.
some minutes were too long so i took it down to one second at a time.

im comin up on 14 years and that may seem like a long time but 13 days is an eternity-

I cannot say it any better than TomSteve and Dee did.

Pressme, I know it's been a few hours but I really hope you still have those 13 days and are into your 14th now.

Early days are tough. I listened to quiet instrumental classical music on Pandora. I did jigsaw puzzles online. I watched comedies. I ate ice cream and took very long walks out in Nature.

You can do it! Ignore that doubting voice. One day at a time.

To help keep you sober I would simply read your OP, you say many things that we need to do to stay sober. As others have said, go to any lengths necessary to keep not drink.

I HAD to do things differently until I wanted to do things differently. When I got to the tipping over point, from "HAD" to "want", I experienced freedom. It happened for me. It can happen for you.
