doing fine

Just a quick update on how I'm doing. Still having to wear the depends after the surgery but I'm getting used to it. Need to schedule physical therapy to learn techniques to deal with this. Been putting this off cause of so many doctor's appointments. Besides, the expense is killing me. Trying to work a lot to help pay for all this stuff. Got a bill for the prostrate surgery for around 4000 dollars. Not much considering the surgery extends my life, but when your bank account doesn't allow you to cut a check for this amount, it's tough. Will send them some money each month to see if that works.
On a side note: as a substitute teacher, I was almost kicked out of a school cause some kids complained that they smelled cig. smoke in the classroom. Some kids covering their mouths with their sweaters or shirts. Since I don't smoke before work, I was really surprised about this. Thought it was maybe my coffee or maybe I needed to change my depends. Turns out it was my coat that I wore that day. After an administrator opened a window and the door and took my coat out of the classroom, that things went well. You would think I walked in the classroom with a chemical weapon. Hopefully, none of those kids will suffer from both physical and emotional trauma during their 47 minutes in my class. I work my ass off to help these kids. Not right. Right now, I am smoking and urinating in my depends and I am all right with that,. John

Wow, that's a huge bill. I'd also send them some money each month and hopefully that will suffice.

Yeah why should doctors make money?

Seriously though there should be a healthy balance between good care and cost. Most health insurance covers this stuff but that is unaffordable for many at the moment.

So anyway, I hope you feel better 2much. My dad had his prostate removed and I saw it was a real pain for him. Get well soon.

Glad you’re ok, John. Is your situation temporary? Hopefully the upcoming physical therapy will help you get back to full health.

I understand the inability to pay such a high bill out of pocket, as the majority of Americans don't have $500 in savings, but for prostate surgery, that bill seems surprisingly low. My 2 hour ER/Alcohol poising/withdrawal visit cost over a grand because it happened during the 1 month I didn't have health insurance (in between jobs)....and now I pay a grand a month for health care for myself and daughter.

I don't believe in socialism, but the health care system is completely screwed lol

With respect to the drs bills....any medical bills. Negotiate negotiate negotiate. You might also qual for assistance. And they usually give no interest pay off time periods...couple years.

And those kids? Ha! They probably all vape....pussies. Haha. Just kidding.

I sent the hospital 100 dollars a month ago and will do the same this month. I had a huge bill a long time ago. Someone told me as long as I send them something, they can't do anything about it. Hope that's true. The total bill came to almost 100,000. U know if I call them to work something out, it will be a lot more than 100 a month. John

Yeah, need to look into it. It's just nice right now not to have any doctor's appointments for a while and can just focus on work and the gym. Will probably start therapy in June when I'm not working. I won't even go into what the doctor gave me to get my sexual function back. I'll give you a hint: it has to do with needles. OUCH. I was told it will come back in time. Think I'll wait. LOL John

I am glad you are are doing well. I cannot believe the kids would complain about smelling smoke on someone's clothes. They sound very spoiled!

I'm assuming these are American kids.. They're not the same as they were definitely and the cost of American health care is astronomical now.

I'm detoxing at home, dangerous, because I don't want a bill of 4K..

I do hope if your detoxing gets tough you consider going to an ER, even if it costs you some. Good luck. John

Good to get an up date from you John.

Husband had prostate cancer and had
a procedure done yrs ago that took care
of the cancer. Side affect is urine frequency.
That is a small cross to carry rather than
cancer eating away your insides. Right?

Folks learn to adapt and work around situations
that baffle us.

Your gift of teaching little ones is priceless.

Just as it is for us in recovery as we share
our own ESH - experiences, strengths and
hopes of what life was and is like before, during
and after addiction.

Continue your course and journey sharing,
teaching, living life to the upmost with blessings
to follow.
