Well, I wouldn't call paying for someone's rehab stay enabling...that's clearly attempting to help. Now helping them out financially and repeatedly bailing them out, yeah that's absolutely enabling.

I have told my children at age 18, I have six, that I will not bail them out of jail and I haven't. Only one of my two boys has called me for help and he was reminded of my position. Both boys have found themselves in the position but only one tried me. It is probably a hard line but they got themselves into trouble and they can get themselves out.

Situational I suppose. My parents always told me the same thing, they'd never bail me out of jail. Luckily I've never been arrested to test them. Very lucky with my drinking history.
