18 Months
I felt this deserved a single, stand-alone post.
I was:
A blackout artist
A lier
Lazy
Untrustworthy
Unhealthy
Always looking to party
Hanging out with toxic (to me) people
Hungover at least 4 times a week (most weeks)
Always the victim
Addicted to drama- mostly which I created
self-sabotaged
Self-loathing
Remorseful
Regretful
Forgetful
Broken
Judgmental
I am today:
Sober
A mother
A partner
A business partner
Loyal
Confident
Knowing my self-worth
Always trying to be better
Healthy
Happy
Energetic
Sober
In Recovery - will be always
Communicative
Creative
Disciplined
Goal orientated
NOT PERFECT
Honest
Reliable
Understanding

Without a doubt 1.5 years ago I made the best decision of my life!
This journey has come with some heartbreak, tears, frustration, wanting to give up but the will and strength to continue and to be a better person kept me pushing forward.
I would not trade my sober life for anything.
Thank you all for sharing where you are, where you have been and what it took to get you here.

Great post and a huge congrats on 18 months!! The list you wrote about being pre sobriety... well I ticked every single one of those character flaws too!! Every. Single. One.
It’s mind boggling that when you are in that headspace and actively drinking for me anyhow if someone had called me those things I would have kicked off big time and denied it with every fibre of my being, and worst of all I would have truly believed they were lying to me!
