Close to 9 years sober and I'm plum depressed about my Mom.

Digging in the past, telling me stories about my long-deceased Dad which make me hate him.

I need to set some boundaries and detach with love.

She's 80 years old and it makes me so sad she's in this state at this point in her life.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and your mom.

I had to detach from my parents for a while and work on my boundaries.

Have to thought about how you might do that?

I had similar problems with my elderly mom. She constantly reminded me of my dad divorcing her all those years ago. I understood that a lot of her complaining was due to dementia, so I just ignored it.

I hope you can work out a solution to the problems with your mom.

Thank you both for the gentle advice and reminders. This past week, I did put a boundary up with my Mom.

My sponsor reminded me to take my power back and to let my Mom know I didn't want to hear her speak ill about my Dad or complain about a brother of mine who hasn't cut the apron string yet, should she bring up either topic again.

I'm sorry you both had to deal with similar situations and so grateful that you shared exactly what I needed to hear.
