Day 4- I know I'm gonna f--- this up

I did what was suggested today..went to recovery circle at outpatient rehab. Took the naltrexone.. exercised. Went to work. I'm being good and obedient. I gotta keep raktak suggestions.

I know what will happen. I'll have a bad day and say f--- it. But I don't want that. I want to fight.

Ahhh the "F its"... always a fav.!
Life becomes so much better and easier the minute you say "F THAT!" to a drink.
I hope you will...as you really can!
Good luck,
Jules

Here's a clever secret I figured out recently. I'm going to have a bad day. its inevitable. I use the good days to plan how I will approach the bad days. And reflect on the bad days I've had in the past, with and without booze.

Great suggestions here. Plan, be ready, ask for help.

Nothing gets easier by drinking.

You've got 4 solid days. Tomorrow will be 5. Leave it at that for now. You will be ok. Lean on SR. It's what has helped me.

^^^just to add to that - having a day we don't feel solid is OK too! Life is like that for everyone and I had to get over feeling like it was unique to me as an alcoholic....and do what I needed to do in order to get thru any day sober. Go to bed early - eat ice cream for dinner- cry- binge watch netflix- whatever.....I promise that what you can learn to do in order to get thru bad days keeps expanding the longer you stay sober.

Stay with us.

Any outcome is possible Pressme - but it's important to remember that all of them ( bad or good ) are a direct result of the choices that you make. Bad days happen to everyone, even if you've been sober for 50 years. If you have to, write down exactly what you you plan to do later in the day. Come here, go to a meeting, take a walk, get some icecream, the list of possibilities is literally endless.

Don't underestimate the power of negative thinking...

I want to fight.
That's more like it!

I have a 100% Success Rate of getting through bad days. If you're still alive, you do too.

Doesn't have to be perfect, just sober. In early days, that was my yardstick. "Did I have a drink today because of _____________ ? No!! Good, I got it right."

The way you think is the way you feel and the way you feel is the way you act.
Have you tried meditation. Positive thinking is so important. You can do this.

Remember every day is an opportunity to learn, no matter how imperfect you feel about how things are going.

There was a time 4 days seemed impossible to me. Well done!

Help me out here Press. Are you saying that you only ever drink as a result of bad days, that you never drank on a good day, or an indifferent day?
