Tetrax -

How miserable to you really want to get before you say "I give up"?

I wouldn't trade places with you for anything, because I know how you feel.

I had all kinds of excuses and rationalizations as to why it wasn't quite time for me to get help.

I finally decided I had had enough misery and terror and confusion.

Then, I asked for help.

I got it and learned to live like a sober person and not a self-absorbed drunk who was in denial about life generally.

Sobering up is about growing up.

Come on over to our side, amigo.

I promise that it's much better over here.

And you will have us to help and support you - like we do with each other.

Ah, the drinker always finds a way, am I right? I mean, I technically still eat (had some cereal ten hours ago or something), but will not spend a penny on food if it gets in the way of you know what. Which I can't really afford either. It's a long story. It's gonna bite me in the arse, basically. But what can I do when I need to chuck vodka down my gullet?

In other news I've messaged my whole family to see if one of them might come and get me tomorrow.

And if they can't? Can you get to them? No one is coming to save you.

Tetrax.

As you are in the UK do you not have a local addictions service you can access? They are all over the UK, each NHS area should have its own addictions service. Some are better than others / offer more support but all will have experience of dealing with someone whose life is controlled by drinking.

https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/Al...ionSearch/1805

Some of the information may be out of date as it is up to each NHS area to provide up to date information and some are a bit slow in doing this but you should be able to find something local from searching by your postcode.

Hi Tetrax;

How are you feeling? Is your family going to come get you?
Sending you strength to not pick up a drink today

Yeah so my dad and sister did pick me up in the end and I've spent my first insomniac, but sober, night at my dad's (50 miles from where I live). So I'm grateful to have had this option. I'm gonna try and get my sleeping pattern a bit more normal whilst I spend a few sober days here, before looking at recovery options in my hometown. Sorry for all the drama. I may have only had a couple of hours sleep but I feel a lot better than yesterday evening say, now the booze feels mostly out of my system. Thanks for everyone's support, hope you're all well.

I'm glad to hear you are with family recovering.

You'll feel much better soon--
