Weekender Thread 15-18 February 2019
Thanks for all the congrats on the newborn . Actually it’s 6am on Monday morning — just fed him, burped him, changed diaper and put him back to sleep so my wife could get a little more rest. He’s already back asleep.
This is actually a 3-day weekend for me. All across the board, just an amazing weekend.

Sometimes I wish I could drop my kids off at grandmas. But they can find their own way back now.

I don't know. It's still in progress... Maybe "Hell in progress"?
Glad you are having such a fun with my “not-not a date-hell maybe-not yet a boyfriend” situation.
It put a continuous smile on my face to read your comments.
Sao - I hope things at work will perk up soon. Maybe, use this time to start another car project?
Hawkeye - I am starting to share your good feeling so far)
Willow - Sorry to hear about your airport ordeal. This is beyond exhausting. Hugs to you.
Listae - Congrats on the first weekend without intrusive drinking thoughts! This is the day to remember.
Evoo - Welcome!
Calvary - Exercise was and still is my life-saver no matter what life trials come my way. And in early sobriety it worked wonders.
Manta - I am guilty of this “too much planning/not so much doing thing too”. It’s one of my dragons still to conquer. And I think you may be right about a lottery ticket…
Andy - I am sure you’ll get a job soon.
Phoenix - Thank you. It’s been a while since I treated myself.
Mags - High and thank you!
Have a great Monday, weekenders!
Done by forethought
I actually had a discussion with my counselor about this weird form of procrastination. I think it therefore it's done.
He said to share the tasks with someone who will hold you accountable.

Hi Weekenders - Just checking in. Kind of bored at work, but it won't last.
Very pleased to read that most of us had good weekends. Congratulations on the job, and the hell maybe boyfriend, MB! I hope this all helps you feel less blue, because it seemed like you were in quite a slump there for a while.
And good for you for surviving a maddening airport situation, Willow.
I had a good weekend, but it felt way too short. Went shopping at an actual indoor shopping mall yesterday with my man friend - first time in years. Stores all seemed to be having massive sales for President's Day, so I scored some good cheap stuff. I love a bargain. Didn't buy anything I didn't actually need, except for a jigsaw puzzle, which was the only thing that WASN'T on sale. But I wanted it. So there.

Congratulations MidnightBlue, fantastic. I really hope it goes well but even if you don't like it much you can keep looking for something better. It is always easier to land another job while your already working (imo)
Night night MB and sleep tight x
Early night here too. I am getting a 7 day free pass for the pool next to the new job that I start on Monday. Going to test it out in the morning to see what it’s like at the time I would go before work before I commit to a membership.
Laters weekenders xx

That’s great news on the job MB!
I write to-do lists all the time. I don’t always get around to doing everything on the lists and some things take a lot longer to get done than anticipated, but I find it doesn’t matter. Some things that don’t get done lose their importance and end up being crossed off later when they’re no longer relevant or necessary.
I’ve tailored my list-making to a few lists on different pages.
1. Priorities (to do as soon as I can today or perhaps tomorrow, like pay bills, make an important phone call, shopping list)
2. Soon (to do in the next few days or sometime this week, like ring a friend I haven’t spoken to recently, check the post box, buy a new icebrick for the chilly bin before the weekend etc)
3. Sometime (like clean out the spare room, put up some more picture hooks)
I cross things off and add things and I re-write as they get messy or things become obselete. It seems to work ok
Some things move to a different list, eg as they become more important or more urgent/imminent (move up to 2 or 1) or less important (move back to 2 or 3)
Some things never get done and I eventually let them go

I have a big work to-do list on a white board in my cubicle. I find that often things get crossed off either because they are no longer important or the person who wanted it done just got laid off. lol. Occasionally one gets crossed off 'cause it actually got done. All the important/urgent stuff is written on sticky notes and placed around the edges of my monitors.
weekenders
Willow, I just checked on google what a chilly brick is! Self explanatory really I guess, we call them ice packs.
Had a really steady day yesterday, now I’m retired from work, life is different, but good! I never thought I’d want to leave work for good after being made redundant, but mainly due to health problems, I’m staying retired! It’s a good feeling of freedom.
Have a good day

Hi, weekenders.
Sao - I don't remember if I'd asked you this, but is there any particular reason for the slow time at work?
Marty - You are quite right, I've been in emotional lowland like...forever. Time to change it.
Manta - Hope you'll like your new pool.
I've been filling forms for my job application process, and I think after generating too much emotions yesterday I am somewhat emotionally flat. But I am having a boxing workout, so it will surely shake me up.
See you.
Have a great day.

It was someone at work's 30th Birthday and I was mentally estimating how short a visit to the pub or bar I could make without being rude when a co-worker reminded me that birthday boy doesn't drink - something I had actually known some years ago but forgotten. Result!
It was a bit like being reminded that Justin Timberlake was once in N Sync.
