The Gilmerites....in memory of Gilmer
One of the most important lessons that Gilmer taught me was to never lose my sense of humour. Or humor for the Americans.
Even in her last week she was cracking silly jokes to make ME laugh....and she loved the Chippy cartoons, for anyone who didn't know that....and our lovely Gilmer wanted us to continue on in her spirit....with love and faith and humour.
I am honoured to do so.
Honoured to be here with all of you.
I've been looking through old posts of Gilmer. Here's her idea of an icebreaker
It's all so Gilmer! She practiced what she preached. Would that I could do what she did with half her grace.
I thought of an icebreaker to that would allow you to:
1) Fall on your sword without compromising your substance;
2) Affirm and appreciate any exasperation he might have;
3) Diffuse the situation with a touch of humor;
4) Demonstrate that your frankness and willingness to be “oppositional” even applies to yourself.
...Say, “Look, I’ve heard that you really dread having to deal with me. I honestly don’t want to be a stench in your nostrils! If there are ways you feel I could improve my interpersonal communication, please let me know.”
I love that Old Testament phrase, “stench in one’s nostrils!”

Gilmer and I exchanged some of our writing with each other. I read her paper and my first thought was, "holy cow, she is so much smarter than I am."
What impressed me every day was her thoughts about everyone else before herself. Even when she knew she was dying she wanted to make sure everyone else was okay. #IhopeIcanbelikeher

It is why we must love and care for others, a part of us lives on in them. And Kathy, I take you everywhere I go right now, it seems.
I was away camping about a week ago, and as I went to take a picture, I felt myself feeling sad, because I could no longer share it with you, and you would go oooh, aaah, that's so pretty. But in my heart you are there and I think of all the places I will go and wish I could share with you. I will share here, I know that's what this thread is for. Right now, I still feel the empty moments, even though I'm happy your pain is done, lovely lady.

I thought of Kathy this morning as some God rays shone through the early morning clouds. Rainbows and God rays are heaven's way of shining through, to me.
Morning hugs to the Gilmerites.
just learned of her passing.. my first line that popped up today was a sparkle bit. and I thought mmm Glimmer is trying to tell me something.. and then I realized the post was in the past tense of Life....so...
To Glimmer to Sparkle for a brief bit of time a Shine of Life a Sparkle of
Breath .. to out shine a Star for a brief bite of Time... to Show the World and
so many you have the ability to draw those that are lost to your path of Bright Glimmer Sparkle for just the time they need it the most...
To Glimmer I shout to the Heavens God and Angels you have the Brightest Star we have let her Shine and never go Out... love a Lady Clown you held tight...
in closing a bit.. of song. not to weep with but to see the Glimmer again..
Freddie Mercury These are the Days of Our Lives.. love you all so much ardy... for you Glimmer you helped me so much...
