One year sober today - how I got there.
These statements are very true. But think of how much better equipped we are to deal with life's problems once we get sober. So many more tools and so much better judgment at our disposal.

So humbled by the responses and positivity.
Similar to walking into 'the rooms', there is instant understanding (on this online forum), an unspoken acknowledgement of relating to eachother through the horrific experiences we have all had and if like me, still pay the prices of actions.
But that was then, this is now. One day at a time.

Great post. Inspires me because it doesn't shy away from the fact that work needs to be done. And I'm beginning to see this properly myself. I can't do this alone, and that's okay.
Also I hope things improve for you elsewhere 'cause you've obviously earned it. I would say you're probably right to leave your former partner alone. But I know the feeling you describe and how hard that is. Love can be brutal. What else can be said?
