Sober 16 days and am so grateful

Today was a huge test for me I left my job of 22 yrs and great friends to start a new job in a completely different field. It was very bitter/sweet on one hand very sad to leave and on the other excited about the new job. Tore me up pretty good leaving and for a brief instant wanted a drink but that is when I realized it would not solve anything and simply is not an option for me anymore. Hours later and I am so thankful I stayed sober. No morning regret for me.

Glad you resisted the temptation. As you accumulate more sober time, it gets easier to say no to those thoughts of drinking.

Congrats on the new job!

Hi Unshackled.
Every time we make it over one of those temptation hurdles we grow stronger. I used it to mask my feelings & emotions for too long - it does nothing but cause harm. Congratulations on your new job - I hope it's all you want it to be.
