SSDD -> Same Sunrise ~ Different Day

OK, well, this Pic is actually yesterday. Today, we're socked in/not socked in as Clouds we're up in drift by. Super-light Snow that not's sticking. 14 F [-10 C] tonight, but nicely Sunny manana. We'll take it!

I fixed a really bizarre problem with the Tank that holds our Well Water. Turns out that Minerals clogged a small Pipe going to the Pressure Switch that turns the Well Motor On/Off after sensing this Tank is up to working pressure to supply House Faucets. This clog meant the Well Pump just kept running, and over-pressurized the Tank; almost to the failure limit. Odin and Wotan intervened; the Pump magically stopped just short of catastrophe. Got the required parts yesterday, and it was fixed before Dinnertime. Didn't even flood the Joint, due to thinking through prioritized steps first to ensure draining everything. Sho was easier while Sober!

MesaMate's away to Denver in a few Weeks to visit a Gal Pal on a sudden invite, and see Elton John's last Tour. Floor Seats are $585-/each, so one would think that all will be had by a good time. I mod'ded our pending Travel Plans, and I'm launching down to the Arizona Desert via Las Vegas. I'm seeing ZZ Top in the company of numerous Drunks at a Casino Showroom, and then recovering in the serenity of the Sonoran Desert with MesaDog. Endless free areas to park the cushy Trailer at while Livin' Large off the Solar Energy set-up I've installed. Hikes. Picture taking. Look at Stars through Binoculars. Safe Campfires. Lose weight while eating my own cooking. MesaMate flies down to join me later, and we'll hit The Big City of Phoenix & surrounds. Figger out the rest as we go, since the SoCal Desert to the West is getting slammed by Rain, and some Flash Flooding.

Thanks for the neato Pic, Sao. I was impressed with the Bond Film Skyfall, and promptly looked up the Film Location Hashima Island that Night. Click on any about Pic for background...

Evening, weekenders.

I've almost completely recovered and my mind started racing again.

I almost miss the fever which kept it down.

I'm in.

Feeling really good in myself. Calm, proud, healthy, at peace.

Just sat down to a plate of veggies and an omelette and going to have a huge hot chocolate to follow!

Love waking up sober. Planning another run tomorrow too

Happy sober weekend guys.

A friend sent me something this morning. I immediately thought of Gilmer. I don’t know the author but the last three sentences were amazing:

”When the great oak is straining in the wind,
The boughs drink in new beauty, and the trunk
Sends down deeper root on the windward side.
Only the soul that knows the mighty grief,
Can know the mighty rapture. Sorrows come
To stretch out places in the heart for joy.”

We have experienced a great loss and we share our common grief. In doing so, we grow strong to help one another in our future sorrows and to share in each others future joys.

Beautiful Leigh, thank you.

Hi to all the new weekenders, you'll be so glad you didn't drink when Saturday morning comes around.

Usually I got out with friends and play indoor crazy golf or ten pin bowling on a Friday but that won't be happening fore a few more weeks as, ironically some of my friends are staying in so that they can complete "dry January." I read somewhere that about 5 million people in the UK are attempting it this year which seems a lot.

it's interesting to see how many alleged "normies" seem to be having a tough time of it.

The guys I listen to on the radio were talking about "Dry January" and one of them pointed out that Feb. 1 is on a Friday, so imagine a lot of those people may end up going out and getting trashed.....

Purps, they have been talking about that on local television, too. There was a doctor who was interviewed who said that those who are quitting to remove the alcohol from their system need to stop for at least six months to remove all of the negative effects of alcohol. Maybe those interviews, as broadcasted, will be a wake up call for many.

Joining the Sober Weekenders

I'm checking in to commit to a sober weekend. It's MLK Day here in the States; so, I made plans to attend a commemorative breakfast on Monday where there is no possibility of drinking.

I'm also going to try to get myself to either walk or go to the gym (which I have avoided) and to clean my house. I know it doesn't sound super thrilling but it beats intoxicating myself and fearing being pulled over or spending a week's pay. I'll take tranquility over insanity for now.

I appreciate reading about everyone's posts. Helps me stay sober.

Welcome to Weekenders listae. Nothing dull about going for a walk or the gym, those endorphins help keep the cravings away (in my unqualified opinion)

Yeah, my friends are not going out at all to avoid temptation, perhaps they'll have a better understanding of how I feel now. I won't hold my breath on that one.

btw that's an amazing sunrise MesaMan, I never noticed it before.

Goodnight MantaLady.

Hi weekenders!
Welcome to newcomers

Awesome pic Mesa! Stunning!

What torture Sao to wear a suit! On Friday!

I have a fairly lazy day ahead as I have to stay home, which I don’t mind at all. I might brew a nice coffee, go for a beach walk, perhaps a swim, and a bit of pottering around the house, wash sheets, google ideas for my upcoming trip overseas later this year

And not drink. Funny, that was an afterthought. There was a time when drinking consumed my every waking minute. And when I stopped, it haunted not only every waking minute but my dreams for a while there too. But 8 months on, it’s not the first thing in my mind when I wake up. It flits in occasionally, generally in response to triggers, but the thoughts of alcohol go away much more quickly, and the cravings when they do come, are generally way less intense. It’s definitely not anywhere near as hard to stay sober now as it was in my past. If you’re new to sobriety, hang in there, it does get easier!

I hope you’re all having a good start to the weekend.

Hey everyone! Checking in, desperately. LOL!

I'm curious if you all have some tried and true anti-FOMO weekend tips and tactics? I really need to get this one down as it's an achillies heel and I feel a FOMO attack coming soon.

So if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them!!

TIA!
