I just need to do a little promotional work for this website's forum, out of gratitude. As you can see, I've been a member here for a very long time. There were periods of abstinence mixed in there, but most of that time I was drunk, and alone, and sending out pleas for help while I sobbed at the keyboard. In contrast, I've now been sober for 22 months.

Most of us know how amazing these threads are, so I guess I'm preaching to the new kids who haven't learned it yet - don't go away! No matter how sick you are, or hopeless, or drunk, just hang out here; if you can't post, just read. The conversations here are some of the best "texts" for getting and staying sober that exist in the world today. Coupled with the personal, caring support of real people, it's a powerful resource that's instantly available at any time.

I'm eternally grateful for my long connection with this website. We're all very blessed that it's here. Thanks, SR...

I'm right there with you Arpeggioh! Just passed 22 months too and I've been around awhile myself

SR very well may have saved my life. This place literally helped me change my thinking so I could free myself. Much love and gratitude to SR and all the people on here.

Congrats on 22 months.

Thank you, Arpeggioh! Congratulations on your 22 months.

I feel the same about SR. Frankly, I didn't expect much when I first signed on.
I wasn't ready to admit to being an alcoholic. I had googled 'Heath problems of heavy drinkers' Ha. Up popped an SR thread - I decided to take a quick look, and that's what started my journey to sobriety. I would never have imagined a website could encourage & inspire me to stop drinking after 30 yrs.

The capability to review one's own posts and threads is a startling, humbling synopsis our individual and collective journeys. I have find these living journals remarkable at times.

There is a line in book I read from time to time.........We know only a little.....more will be revealed; a hallmark of a sober life.

Secondly, the search capabilities of the forums mines gems for all to read. While we are all unique, there is little others have not already experienced. Their stories, once absorbed become part of our stories.

Anecdotally, those I disagreed with most in early sobriety I now nod my head to in concert.

Welcome, old timer.......thanks for sticking around.

Amen.

SR saved my life.

Joined in Nov 2014, got sober in Dec 2015. When I started to take recovery seriously, I needed tools, and I got them from this site. So, thanks to SR, I managed to quit. Then I needed ongoing support and again I got it from this site. Again, thanks to SR, I managed to stay quit.

Come here as much as you need. Whether you read, post or respond to others, it doesn't matter. It all helps so much.

SR has been my constant resource, in addition to weekly counseling. I was on here daily, reading and posting. I no longer am in counseling, but still come here every day.

I've made a lot of friends here, one of whom I met in person when she gave me a lovely little cat!

I log on first thing in the morning and log off last thing at night. I am so grateful SR is here.

This forum is the largest contributor to my success to date! I’d probably still be drinking if I hadn’t found it.

I haven't been paid to post.

I was googling Campral because it had just been prescribed to me and up pops SR. I checked it out and I know it saved my life.

Well done on 22 months, A.
