New year, Sober year

Today is the first day of sobriety in a very, very long time. It has been 24 hours since my last drink. I am so looking forward to being sober. I hate the feeling of dependence. I has been a long time coming.....Glad to be here.

Hello and welcome.
You've found a great place for support.
And congratulations on day one.
I wasn't sober for a very, very long time, too. Thirty years or so.
And I was a heavy drinker. Every day at the end.
Sobriety for me was a long time coming, too.
I went to AA I found this place.
Just a suggestion, but you have to do the legwork. Go to any length to get sober if you are serious about it.
Have a plan. Make the necessary changes. Because when you get sober, like I did, the only thing that changes is everything.

You can do it. I've seen people worse than me get sober.
No matter how low we've sunken there is always hope.
I totally understand where you're coming from.
I hated the dependence at the end I even hated to drink. But I had seemingly lost all hope.
I asked my higher power for help and I got it in the form of an angel from AA who drank like I did and understood.

That's it here, too, we understand.
I hope you stick around. There really is life outside of drinking. And It's free.
I'm happy, sober and free. Even my bad days are good. You can have this too.

Best to you and happy new year.

Welcome to the family, TB and LLou. :) You won't regret getting sober. My life changed for the better when I declared my independence from alcohol. :)

I'm glad you both joined us and hope our support can help you get sober for good. :grouphug:
