I am currently working on a plan(thx for your thread Dee, very helpful) and I think it's going pretty good but I'm stuck on one part and I think it's the most important part for me by far.
I need to find something that I enjoy doing during the time that I usually was drinking. It also likely needs to be something I can do at home here because of my constant revolving schedule(hard to find consistency in doing stuff outside the house due my schedule changing non-stop).
I use to use drinking as a reward system for myself daily. Get up, get my work done, chores done, errands ran and then at the end of all that reward myself with drinks and movies at home. I looked forward to that all day long and it kept me motivated.
When I'm not drinking I generally find I don't even want to get out of bed because I really have nothing to look forward too those days anymore.
I believe this is a major key for me. If I can find something that I really enjoy doing and is time consuming for most of the duration I'd be drinking, this would go a long way for me as far as avoiding relapsing.
99x out of a hundred I relapse due to sheer boredom during the times I'd normally be drink. During those times I'm constantly thinking about drinking and seems like it's only a matter of time until I fail.
Time to put the thinking cap on. Hmmm.

Hi Leonidas -- it's great to see you're still on board!
I don't think of it so much as having a plan, as making one up as you go along. Hm. What can I do? Maybe, what did I like to do, before I started drinking all the time....
I like cookies (let's say). Well, first there's the period of just eating them to replace the sugar you were getting with the booze. Then shopping around for exotic ones. Then baking. Competitively.
Normies call it a hobby. For us it's a replacement-obsession.

Congrat's on Day 4 Leonidas. There is an old saying in addiction circles when people are trying to get and stay clean. It say's "Nothing changes if nothing changes" !
Well, I put a different "twist" on it and say "Nothing changes until EVERYTHING changes" !
Best of luck,
Dave

Well done on 5 days.
That boredom thing goes away when you fill the hole alcohol has left.( also could be AV saying your bored, nothing to do so may as well have a drink)
It can be quite enjoyable filling it.
And also a little frustrating when there isn’t enough hours in the day to do ALL of the things you want to do.
Makes life much more enjoyable having things you haven’t done to look forward to.
You’re doing great

Excellent -- keep on truckin' even if it feels like trudging & sludging

Leonidis (after the Spartan hero?), I get a little focused on the word 'luck'. I have had well meaning people tell me my [plight means I am 'lucky', where as it all came/comes from hard work- but I accept the good gesture bit- thanks, I will bear that in mind.
