Christmas 2018
I "survived" Christmas 2018. On arrival on the north coast of Australia I was whisked to party from the airport. First question "beer or wine mate? "I said soft drink is fine. Luckily the stay was brief and we got out of there. Everybody was in various state of drunkenness. Just didn't like it. Christmas was the first sober one in 30+ years. 48 days AF today and I feel great, look great and most importantly still sober. Flying out to Goa in India for 2 weeks. Last time I went to Goa over a year ago I went the part path. This time I have enrolled in a mediation and yoga retreat. Far far away from the party scene in North Goa.
I am determined to wake up NY morning 01 January 2019 on day 52 and leave horrible 2018 behind me. Horrible but actually also an eyeopener and lifesaver thanks to wonderful AA and NA.
Stay sober gang!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to rehab that opened my eyes to addiction and introduced me t o AA and NA. Goa is a cool place with a good hippy vibe. Unfortunately also a state where booze is dirt cheap. However, I survived my Christmas with homophobic mother in law and all the triggers, so this should be OK. ODT is all I can say. Today I am not going to drink/drug. I am grateful to be sober today.
