What a difference a week makes

This entry will probably have little value to anyone other than myself, but I feel compelled to write it down. The last 3 years of my life have gone like this, year 1, rehabbing my injuries, years 2-3 working in my home office in real estate. I have sold a few houses, but nothing to write home about. The amount of idle time I had was starting to mess with me. I could drink all day and no one would know and that was trying to sneak into my head. So I went to a temp agency and asked them to find me a job.

I started last Monday and my life went from 0-100mph in one day! I work in a warehouse, we walk about 8 miles a day and handle around 600 boxes in a shift. Its hard but its been great, I feel so much better physically and mentally. Getting out of bed with a purpose is a good feeling. I come home tired and hungry, but in a good way. Next week going to incorporate the gym back into the daily routine. I make next to nothing in pay, but I'm ok with it, I'm not doing it for the money.

ps. and the nagging thoughts of drinking are completely gone.

Thanks for this, I needed to read this today.

I've been procrastinating work for far too long.

Thanks.

Good for you for taking the initiative to make a change. Sounds like a great fit for you right now. Enjoy your new routine/job.

Thank you for this. Can I ask you the name of the temp agency?

Im leaving my job in two weeks and would love to have something to fall back.

I live in Minnesota, USA and the name of the agency is Pro-Staff. They specialize in administrative and light industrial. I think they are nation wide.

It doesn't sound like you will need to spend much time at the gym!

I'm really glad that you decided to make such a positive change in your life.

This is great! I know exactly what you mean about unstructured time - my flexible schedule became a total liability, drinking-wise. I'm really happy for you.
