The Perfect Day
Hey there people!
Well, I usually post when something is very wrong, but I think its also fair to post when something good happens.
So why was today so good?
1. I completed some administrative stuff I needed to sort out for quite a while.
2. I successfully had a very nice work chat.
3. It was the day with the least anxiety for a while and was not that afraid of consequences of the past.
4. Stayed with my colleagues for around an hour and came back home. Sober.
That does not sound like an amazing day huh ?. Well, you are right. It was a normal day. Keyword: normal. And you know what? It was a normal day, and I was happy.
Don't get me wrong, I still have a lot of problems. I have a stable job and a great salary..... and my bank account is red. I'm still receiving bills and things from my drinking, I'm very anxious and got no idea how I'm going to "reinsert" myself to a fully functional human being.
But just for today, it was a good day. I was sober, I went pass Friday. Right now I'm waiting for a burrito bowl and watching Netflix.
Guys, it can be done.

I can relate to the gratitude you feel about just plain normalcy, ha.
When you first get sober, you spend a lot of time dreading certain interactions because you became so used to handling them while drunk or buzzed. And me personally, I spent a lot of the first week or two of sobriety sort of shut off and alone just trying to keep myself busy. Once I was able to go out and have dinner or get coffee with people, it reminded me that I am absolutely capable of enjoying this world and enjoying the company of others without alcohol.
It's a great feeling. Like you, I still have my issues to work through, but it's definitely a positive step.
