Thomas, I agree with the advice to see a counselor. I went into a depressed state after I quit drinking; it was horrible! I decided to get counseling so made a call to someone my GP had recommended. The counseling helped, a lot, but so did the simple act of making the call. Knowing that I was doing something to find help was almost as good as getting it. Best wishes!

I hope you are continuing to feel better today! It’s so intense to just feel the entire depth of emotions, happy or sad, without the alcohol to numb.

Counseling has helped me tremendously in my journey and personal growth. I hope it can do the same for you - with the right therapist.

Thinking of you, Jeff.

Counseling sounds like a healthy step. You can always lean on us, too.

Love to you!

Hi Jeff;

Just sending you some support and a virtual hug--I've been crying quite a bit myself lately, so I can feel where you're coming from right now

When I got down and was beating myself up about things after some time sober I decided that if I stayed sober for the day that it was a win even if I didn’t do a damn thing else. It helped because patience is really important when we get sober and feel like everything should be peachy and instead we’re thinking about all the negative. That’s when I hit my first meeting and found this website and talking about it did help. Reach out and use all the tools you can but also know that this takes time and be kind to yourself. Much love!
