Site not safe

Do people realise the whole world can google your login name and gather as much information as they want. Under my name is a block heading diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. I have hardly told anyone but now the whole world knows.watch what you say because it is on display.

Well....it does say to pick a name that can't be traced back to you and unless your real name is Ms S Chick - then I wouldn't worry
How are you? Xx

Hi Sweetichick

I'm sorry you didn't know but it is in the rules and regs when you sign up here - and I remind people pretty regularly.

I thought I'd spoken to you about this before when you wanted something removed but maybe it wasnt you?

rest assured folks...

SR *is* safe

If you pick a user name and an email that you only use here, you're as safe as any where else on the web

How are you getting on in starting sobriety? Please try and focus on what is important. As Zanna says no one knows who any of use are unless sweetichick is your real name

In any event there is no shame in getting sober. We are quite happy with people seeing us saying and doing stupid things after drinking several bottles of wine but ashamed of people seeing us getting sober? Bit mixed up there.

I've been on SR for 7 years and no one knows me or knows I'm on here in my real life unless I've chosen to tell them. hope your post doesn't scare any newcomers.

Maybe Focus on what really matters-what are you going to do differently to stay sober? have you got a plan?
wishing you well.

You know Ready - I just came back online to say a similar thing - WE are the ones who are actively here - we found this site - we are the ones who have recognised and dealt or are dealing with our issues. Most people these days, relate and accept that people have problems- even Doctors are in AA - there is no longer 'shame' (not that there ever was or should have been) in this illness..because that's what it is - an illness.
Relax Sweeti - tell us what is going on - I think we suspect anyway - we love you and are here for you love.

No problem Sweetichick

I should add the reason why we keep this an open forum is that when people are looking for help, our threads and posts come up in results.

Thats exactly how I found SR - and I'm sure many of you are the same

Thanks for your posts, Dee. As I'm sure you know, Sweetichick, anonymity is a very high priority here and we do whatever we can to keep our members safe. And, we devote considerable time to member safety.

Also, as you know, we care a great deal about our members' anonymity. We recommend you use a User Name which others in your life don't know about so you wouldn't be recognizable.
