I resisted buying booze, very hard.

I was out to get a coffee and then I changed my mind and was going to get beer. Amazingly, I stopped just short of the liquor store and turned around back to the coffee store.

I am counting this a huge victory because if ever there was a time to numb myself, it is now. My mother passed away suddenly last week and I am an anxious mess. Mom was an alcoholic and it contributed to her death. I think it made me realize my own mortality is being sucked out of me with every drink.

WL,

I’m so sorry about your mom.....😞😢

But I’m super psyched about your decision and actions!!

Screw that AV!!

You just made it weaker.

Glad you are honoring your mom by not drinking. It won’t take the pain away.

Please post a lot, we are open 24/7 to love and support you.

❤️

That great WL - it's those little victories that add up to big ones

Numbing ourselves comes at a terrible price. I really believe you can do this sober

I'm glad you choose the coffee instead of alcohol.

Allow yourself to feel the grief and loss and know that you can get through this difficult time.

Thanks for the replies. I have had several anxiety attacks as of late. My apartment is littered with empty beer cans and rubbish. I think looking at this mess is triggering the attacksl. Time to clean.

Good on ya for making that choice. It shows real strength and dedication.

Don't be afraid to get help to get you through your grief, either from friends and family and/or a professional.

It shows courage, strength and humility to get help when you need it.

Glad you chose the coffee instead of the booze. It's hard at first but it gets easier the longer you stay sober. I promise.

I'm really happy you decided to skip the beer WL, I definitely think that having a tidy up is a good idea and will make you feel a lot better.

What an excellent choice to make, WL. I had a rather difficult day, but you have made it brighter by sharing that experience. Keep it up, make it simple, make that turn away each time it may call to you.

Hi again WL, I think this post came after the other one. I’m catching up on SR this week. Well done! Just keep doing this. One day at a time and you will get stronger every day. It will still be hard, but it will get better. You can do this!

I love the feeling I have after a good house clean. It’s all about self care.
