Happy Thanksgiving
So much to be thankful for, yes, you, all the admins and moderators who work behind the scenes and are also on stage 24/7 for all of us.
We so appreciate you!
We so appreciate you!
Thank you Anna! Happy Thanksgiving to all from Michigan. Happy to be able to brag that this will be the first Thanksgiving that I will be attending sober and not hungover and/or withdrawing in about, oh, probably 4 or 5 years. Hubs and I were put in charge of mashed potatoes for the whole group and I got through preparing it in advance tonight without a problem or better yet, a fight! Little victories make me happy these days
Happy Thanksgiving back to you, Anna, and everyone here. Thank you for everything you do. Thank you to everyone here for sharing your stories, inspiring me, and giving me a sense of community. This will be my second T-day sober and I am looking forward to it.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating! I am thankful for all of you. Really and truly.
I was going to skip the big meal this year, just have been so overwhelmed with everything going on but one of my English students asked me for the third year in a row if I was doing anything and if he could come. He is so curious about Thanksgiving. I decided to go ahead and cook a traditional meal for him and his girlfriend. I know he wants the full on experience so I have pulled out all the stops and made all the traditional dishes and desserts. I am going to set the table with my nicest things.
He asked if they could bring anything and I said "please no food! but if you like to have wine with dinner, bring a bottle- a heavy white or light red would work nice- I don't drink and don't buy alcohol" He responded "oh we don't need wine, whatever you are serving is just fine" So that was taken care of!
I hope everyone has an enjoyable, peaceful day. If anyone is struggling financially and does not have anything to eat please check out what options there are in your community, I have been heartened to see the great number of places offering a nice meal. If you need help finding something PM me and I'll help you google.
Remember also that this day can get intense with extended family and friends. Take time for yourself. Go in with a plan. And whatever you do DON'T discuss politics with your crazy Uncle Bob! Keep it easy today and avoid discussions and situations that will upset you.

Thanks Anna. We had a 21 person madhouse at our place yesterday. Friends and kin from as far away as Idaho and Scotland. Lots of wine, no politics and barely enough room in the fridge for leftovers in spite of heroic eating. I stuck to food and club soda and had a wonderful time.
Happy Holidays to you too Anna as I echo Delilah's
word too. I'm grateful and thankful for this amazing
sober recovery site and all those who share their
own experiences, strengths and hopes on a daily
bases.
I'm truly thankful for each and everyone
of you.
