Day 2 and struggling

Hi everyone,

So it's actually been a pretty good year, which makes what happened so much worse. I've had 2 lapses in 2018 which lasted 2 days each.
I've been getting frequent cravings the last few weeks, but it all came to a head a few days ago.

I just snapped.

Now I'm sitting here by myself wondering how long this terrible anxiety and depression will last, and how long it will be before I can get back to my life.

I've never reached out for support in the 3 years I've been trying to stay clean. I was too proud and now I have to admit that I need help.

If you have any advice I'd love to hear it

Thank you for reading

This is a great and supportive place, Shareef. Most of us have been exactly in your shoes--and if we can quit, you can quit.

Life really is so much better sober--especially with a good support group encouraging you.

Exercise is a great stress reliever - Welcome to posting :)

Thank you

Thanks guys,

I'm pretty isolated so it's nice to know people out there are listening :)

Where do you think the best place I should post is? I'm a bit lost to be honest...

Welcome to the family! :) You can post anywhere you like. The only exception is the women's forum for women, the men's forum for men. Other than that, you can post anywhere. :)

I hope our support can help you achieve lasting sobriety. :grouphug:

Hello and welcome.
I've been in your shoes a hundred times, so you're not alone.
Holding my head in my hands after a relapse and wondering, how could this have happened again?

Stick around here, you'll find a lot of support from people who understand.
And remember, you never have to drink/use again.

reaching out to others and getting honest was a huge component of my beginning sobriety.
I was always convinced I could do this by myself, and it took me many many years and downfalls to finally accept that I could not.
welcome, Shareef.

Glad you are here.

A lot of us isolated so coming here to find a lot of people who know what you are going through is a great first step. The most important thing is NO drinking.

IRL support is really critical for me now, and certainly at the beginning. What about going to an AA meeting?
