5 Years
Purple Knight, I usually hang out in F&F, but I wandered over here today and am SO glad I did, b/c I got to read your phenomenal, inspiring, hopeful, wonderful post.
I started a thread over in F&F linking to yours here b/c I thought it was such a great way for people to see that yes, recovery/sobriety IS possible, but it takes more than vague promises to "do better" and to "change." (And this is true for us, the family/friends/spouses/partners of the alcoholics, every bit as much as for the alcoholic him/herself. We are kidding ourselves if we don't admit that, and our chances for our own recovery are no better than those of the alcoholic who doesn't make a plan and then walk the walk...)
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Congratulations on your 5 years of sobriety, and I wish you many, many more of continuing growth, healing, learning and joy!
